Analog Audio Editing with ReVox
Freaky montage by JTHZ. 80s tape cuts played back on a ReVox B77, using Maxell tape, BASF PW 384 stickers. Used for this were: Tighten Up/I Just Can’t Stop Dancin’ – Wally Jump jr./Arthur Baker, Reach Up – Tony Lee, The Right Stuff – Brian Ferry, and parts of Macho Mozart – The Latin Rascals Audio is available as MP3 here: audio.jthz.com
Revox A77
Revox A77 two track open reel tape recorder plays Deodato track ‘Summer Samba’
Me playing Depeche Mode “New Life”
No samples were recorded from any original DM track. All sounds produced and edited by myself with my own tools with the only purpose of testing vintage equipment. Backtrack recorder with Pro Tools, then dumped to a Reel to Reel tape. Some mistakes can be heard as I was playing two entirely different keyboard lines. STUDER A816: How to create a reel-to-reel tape loop
This video will show you how to create a tape-loop. As sound sample I used “Money” from “Pink Floyds” album “Dark side of the moon”.

Revox PR99 MkI Reel to Reel with RMGI LPR35 Open Reel Tape plays Phil Woods
Hands down the best consumer recording we’ve made to date. 1/2 track at 7.5 ips, only 15 ips would beat this, we think. This wipes the floor with digital, both 16/44 and 24/96. No contest. Shame you can only get a glimpse of what this actually sounds like in this video. The RMGI tape doesn’t really need noise reduction if you record hot (which you can) and don’t mind a tiny bit of hiss. We just like to obliterate hiss… because we can.
This was recorded from the LP: Phil Woods and his European Rhythm Machine. The reels are PurpleHeart Analog Audio customs. The RMGI tape does not come with these. 1948 AEG Magnetophon K8 tape recorder
Demo of my AEG K8 Magnetophon playing Flat Foot Sam by Elmon Mickle (a very rare Elko blues 45rpm by the way). This rare machine is in great working order and uses German Telefunken vacuum tubes (EF12, EF14 etc.). It runs at 76cm/s (30ips) and is full track mono. I’m looking for old AEG Magnetophon machines, if you have one please let me know.
