Sony TC-654-4 Quad Reel to Reel 4 Channel Working Great

Here’s another piece of quad equipment I have. I had this reel2reel gone through several months ago to get it back to specs and it works great now. I used it for a month after I got it back from the shop to make sure it would stay running and had no problems. The tape in the demo here is a four channel tape and I pumped it through my Pioneer QX-9900 quad receiver. I have 6 Quad r2r decks so I’ll be selling this one sometime in the future. When I do sell it I’ll include the tape here PF:DSOTM in quad and also a tape of CCR Gold in quad.

Lara’s theme from “Doctor Zhivago” from the original MGM reel-to-reel soundrack album

Click here for Stereo: www.youtube.com Artist: MGM Studio Orchestra conducted by Maurice Jarre Title: Lara’s theme from “Doctor Zhivago” (by Maurice Jarre) Album: “‘Dr. Zhivago:’ The Original Soundtrack Album” Label: MGM Records Cat No: STC 4343 Release Year: 1965 Country: USA Format: 1/4″ quarter track 7½ IPS reel to reel tape You’ll notice this is on a different machine than my other reel-to-reel posts. I bought this older Sony deck for my second system and to also post videos on YouTube since it is much lighter than my other deck and easier to move to my computer. My Pioneer deck is far better but it’s a little hard to post reel videos as it weighs an absolute ton and I need the machine close to my computer so the recording is “direct line” (was much easier when I had my laptop!). This Sony deck isn’t bad but is not “high end” like my other is. It’s a portable model from the late 60s with a built in amp and the distortion level seems to be rather high. One feature I like about this Sony machine is that it has the ability to play the tape in reverse (as it is here in this video) and also has auto-reverse; strangely my other machine doesn’t. Compare this video to my other reel-to-reel posts and you’ll see what I mean sound wise. The problem could be with the tape as this is the first time I’ve ever played it and I also used a new movie making program for the first time here. I didn’t like the new program much but my normal one keeps freezing on me. Not that bad I suppose.

A SONY Stereo Demonstration! Exploring the SONY TC126 Vintage Stereo Cassette Recorder

SONY made some of the finest tape recorders ever heard. They built a solid reputation on the quality of their machines. To get such quality, they sometimes employed remarkably ingenious and creative engineering. Such is the “case” in this very special video about the restoration of one of their finer portable cassette tape recorders, the SONY TC126 CS. This unit came as a standalone stereo cassette recorder with one speaker (!) called the SONY TC126, OR as a “kit” – the SONY TC126 CS – (Complete System?) which included a stereo microphone, two outboard speakers, patch cables and a very special stereo demonstration cassette, all housed in a high impact steel grey plastic case! ******** Sponsored by: Sponsored by The Cross of Ramplet Mystery Suspense Novel, NOW available on AMAZON KINDLE and Barnes & Noble NOOK!
