Akai X-1810
Just testing out a 4-track reel-to-reel that I bought today for .60. Featuring a local 1984 recording by The Mynx. I believe the machine was first made around 1973-74. For what it is and the condition it is in, it was a steal!

Norelco (Philips) Continental 401 E3534 Reel To Reel Tape Recorder
A demonstration of this tape recorder I bought at a local thrift store for (It originally sold back in the 60s for 0 or more because it was an all transistor stereo recorder that doubled as a PA system). It works pretty well, except the Rewind & time counter do not work because the belts inside had melted. The VU meter also does not work, although that might be due to a wire that might have to be resoldered. It did not come with an owner’s manual so I had to figure out how to overdub on it thru trial and error. It overdubs between two tracks (making a mono master, very much like a Revox G36 does), degrading the previous recording significantly during the overdub, even if the previous recording was recorded very well.

Tape Recorder Abuse Recovery – Miny 401 Pink Tape Recorders
Restoration and exploration of an abused MINY 401 rim drive tape recorder from the 1960′s with commentary by Gertrude and Eddie cats. This machine is also featured in the Vintage Tape Recorder Hall of Fame at: www.vintagetaperecorderhof.com ******** Sponsored by Self-Esteem DSPP subliminal message program. End the pain of irrational criticism with Self-Esteem DSPP. You CAN restore your self esteem! Please check it out and get full details, including your own free demo at: www.clydesight.com ******** I purchased a highly collectible MINY 401 “pink” tape recorder from an E-Bay “Buy It Now” auction. I also received a seriously abused MINY machine for parts. I was able to provide abuse recovery for this machine with a bit of TLC and an electrolytic capacitor and bring the abused machine back to working life. Which do YOU think sounds better, the machine I recovered, or the original machine that was simply allowed to grow old? Two popular favorites of ClydeSight, Gertrude and Eddie cats make a guest appearance in the video to add their unique pet feline commentary on the restoration. Watch the video and see if you agree with them! **************
